Hey, I liked that a lot. I’d love to see this be chapter one of a book that doesn’t elaborate at all on any of the mysteries that were suggested here. Show the kid growing up without learning any of his parents secrets but growing up negotiating their desert environment nonetheless.
That’d be my life.
I only lived four years in Las Vegas, but I spent a lot of time on my bike out in the desert. This story was my first attempt to explore that in a literal way. Though “Phantom” is really just another version of “Kit Kaleidoscope goes to the Masked Ball.”
