This book contains two related stories: "Holiday Phone-Call" and "My Grandmother's Funeral." "Holiday Phone-Call" is the story of an isolated old woman, Mrs. Herrick, and how a telephone survey upsets her world. "My Grandmother's Funeral" tells of Stephanie's journey to bury her grandmother, Mrs. Herrick. But in bringing another's life to an end, Stephanie must face her own. This story was serialized on-line and is my most commented-on story ever. People who have dealt with the death of their grandmother particularly seem to relate to this tale.
